Publisher's Summary

The countdown to the end of the world has begun.

A mysterious convergence of natural disasters threatens to destroy life as we know it, and people across the United States are going missing. With no one left to investigate, Special Agent Kendra Baker takes the case, trying to solve the disappearances before she’s out of time.

Among those abducted is Valeria Miller, the daughter of ex-Marine Corporal Andrew Miller, and he’ll stop at nothing to find her.

With the help of an unstable conspiracy theorist, they find themselves on the trail of a reclusive billionaire who just might have all the answers.

As the natural catastrophes escalate and the evacuations commence, it becomes a race against the clock to find the abductees before it’s too late.

A detailed description of a really simple cliche story

The author's style is fairly descriptive so the read is slow. The story was incredibly simple and overly dramatic at times.

Cliches abound and so unrealistic!

Too many cliches to list here but they are throughout. The characters were bland and given backstories that were formulaic and predictable. The characters' decisions are defined by what the plot needs and don't represent what real people would do and the good guys go straight to killing so fast without any soul searching! Oh and this is a spoiler but it drove me crazy!!!: technology infrastructure works just fine despite the end of the world. The main characters stay in touch via cellphones even though the USA has fallen apart. They are texting each other even though the entire state is in anarchy. They cook grilled cheese in an abandoned diner while surfing the internet on a laptop. WTF? Oh and the helicopter. "Oh BTW, I took a few lessons so I can fly a helicopter." Through volcanic ash? Screw this book.

I want my money back

Ray Porter is always a great narrator but even he can’t save this book. The plot is intriguing but the terrible writing, convenient story events, and impossible to accept character responses just burn it down.
Couldn’t finish it
