After Lucy is found wandering the streets, covered in her best friend Savvy’s blood, everyone thinks she is a murderer. Story
From the outside, Alicia, Jessica and Norah might seem like ordinary women you'd meet on the street any day of the week. Sure, Jessica has a little OCD and Norah has some anger issues. And Alicia has low self-esteem that manifests itself in surprising ways. But these three have a bond that no one can fully understand. It's a bond that takes them back decades, to when they were girls, and they lived on a farm with a foster mother named Miss Fairchild. Miss Fairchild had rules. Miss Fairchild could be unpredictable. And Miss Fairchild was never, ever to be crossed.

Story
Home alone with her young children during a blizzard, a mother tucks her son back into bed in the middle of the night. She hears a noise—old houses are always making some kind of noise. But this sound is disturbingly familiar: it’s the tread of footsteps, unusually heavy and slow, coming up the stairs. Shrouded in the shadows, she sees the figure of a man appear down the hallway. Terrified, she quietly wakes her children and hustles them into the oldest part of the house, a tiny, secret room concealed behind a wall.

Publisher's Summary
A suicide prevention hotline volunteer answers a call that turns her world upside down in this edge-of-your-seat audio original thriller by the bestselling author of The Perfect Child and The Best of Friends, performed by A.J. Cook (Criminal Minds) and Tessa Albertson (Younger).
Felicia, a single mother and lawyer by day, volunteers at a local crisis center to give back to her tightknit community in a small Wisconsin town. One night, she answers a horrifying call: through tears, a frantic teenage girl tells her that she was a victim of sexual assault at a local house party.
Felicia is shocked, and breaking protocol, she begins communicating with the girl on her own, determined to keep her safe and hold her assailants accountable. But as she gets closer and closer to the truth, she can’t shake the feeling that she and the girl are connected by more than the phone call. As the girl shares more details, Felicia begins to think the unthinkable—someone close to her may be involved in this heinous crime.
As Felicia earns the girl’s trust and more facts emerge about the incident, she faces a gut-wrenching battle between her protective instincts and the moral responsibility to do what’s right. This taut thriller is the perfect listen for fans of The Push, Wrong Place Wrong Time, and We Need to Talk About Kevin.
What the critics say

“One of Our Own is fast-paced, gripping, and written with heart. It hooked me from the first chapter and didn’t let me hit pause until the edge-of-your-seat ending.” (Clémence Michallon, internationally bestselling author of The Quiet Tenant)
"A dark and chilling look behind the scenes of a suicide prevention hotline and a single mother whose best intentions lead her down a dangerous path. Hypnotic and haunting, with a powerhouse performance and a cast of twisted characters Berry’s fans will adore, One of Our Own is a live-wire of a thriller—and every parent’s worst nightmare. 100% bingeworthy." gut wrenching
One of Our Own was a deep story. I knew what I was getting into upon purchasing the audible book due to seeing a recent review reel from someone on instagram. If I read this as a book rather than listened to it, I feel it definitely wouldn't have made me like it as much. You needed the interaction between the main character and the victim in order to really feel the emotions, somethings words couldn't have portrayed as accurately. Please research the trigger warnings before listening to this book as it touches on major issues and situations in which many have trouble stomaching. Overall the story was captivating but extremely predictable. I originally was going to rate this a three star, but I felt as though AJ Cook and Tessa Anderson did a phenomenal job. The story seemed right up AJ's alley, as a former actress in Criminal Minds and all.

Excellent
This book was SO good!!!!
I was so immersed into this story within the very first few minutes. Lucinda Berry managed to tell an incredible story from beginning to end in just over 3 hours.
I was hesitant on spending a credit for such a short book but I am so happy I did! I wish all books were told in this spectacular way.

way too short
This was a great read.. but it felt like half the story was missing. It was WAY too short. And also felt like being ripped off spending a credit on a 3-4 hour novel. Do yourself a favor and skip this one. Not worth it.
