Story
Vera Wong is a lonely little lady of a certain age who lives above her forgotten tea shop in the middle of San Francisco’s Chinatown. She likes nothing more than sipping on a good cup of Wulong and doing some healthy detective work on the Internet about what her Gen-Z son is up to. Then one morning, Vera trudges downstairs to find a curious thing—a dead man in the middle of her shop. In his outstretched hand, a flash drive. After calling the cops like any good citizen, she swipes the flash drive. Why? Because Vera is sure she would do a better job than the police possibly could.

Story
Who hasn’t wondered for a split second what the world would be like if a person who is the object of your affliction ceased to exist? But then you’ve probably never heard of The McMasters Conservatory, dedicated to the consummate execution of the homicidal arts. To gain admission, a student must have an ethical reason for erasing someone who deeply deserves a fate no worse (nor better) than death. The campus of this “Poison Ivy League” college—its location unknown to even those who study there—is where you might find yourself the practice target of a classmate.

Publisher's Summary

"Reminiscent of Liane Moriarty’s What Alice Forgot and Kate Atkinson’s Life After Life, Oona Out of Order is a delightfully freewheeling romp.” (Booklist, starred review)
Oona Out of Order is a remarkably inventive novel that explores what it means to live a life fully in the moment, even if those moments are out of sequence.
Just because life may be out of order, doesn’t mean it’s broken.
It’s New Year’s Eve 1982, and Oona Lockhart has her whole life before her. At the stroke of midnight she will turn 19, and the year ahead promises to be one of consequence. Should she go to London to study economics, or remain at home in Brooklyn to pursue her passion for music and be with her boyfriend? As the countdown to the New Year begins, Oona faints and awakens 32 years in the future in her 51-year-old body. Greeted by a friendly stranger in a beautiful house she’s told is her own, Oona learns that with each passing year she will leap to another age at random. And so begins Oona Out of Order....
Hopping through decades, pop culture fads, and much-needed stock tips, Oona is still a young woman on the inside but ever changing on the outside. Who will she be next year? Philanthropist? Club Kid? World traveler? Wife to a man she’s never met?
Surprising, magical, and heart-wrenching, Margarita Montimore has crafted an unforgettable story about the burdens of time, the endurance of love, and the power of family.

Wow...what a book!
The premise is so interesting and the story is full of incredible emotion and depth. I kept thinking I would find an issue with the timeline but not only did it all come together but there were twists I never anticipated.
Brittany Presley gives Oona personality and depth through her narration.
Easily a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review from me. This is a fantastic debut novel and I can’t wait to read more from Margarita Montimore.

Just okay
A pretty good story with a lot of holes. Narration good for the most part but the male voices of the main characters were somewhat annoying and the English accent of Edward absolutely fake, more Aussie than English and not quite that either.
