Publisher's Summary

Uncover the core of goodness within.

Love, compassion, meaning, hope, and freedom from fear are not qualities we need to acquire. We simply need to uncover what we already have.

"Original goodness" is Eknath Easwaran’s phrase for this spark of divinity hidden in every one of us, regardless of our personal liabilities or past mistakes.

Commenting on the Beatitudes from the Sermon on the Mount, Easwaran shows how this spark of divinity can energize our lives - beginning with a simple method of meditation that gradually removes the conditioning that hides our native goodness.

Eknath Easwaran is one of the 20th century's great spiritual teachers and an authentic guide to timeless wisdom. His books on meditation, spiritual living, and the classics of world mysticism draw from all the world’s great traditions and have been translated into 26 languages.

Fresh comments on the beatitudes

I particularly appreciate the focus on these scriptures. The author is well placed to bring something fresh to these passages that seem, in my experience, to get confusingly thought about in christian circles and rarely mentioned from the pulpit. It's well recorded and narrated too.

Repetitive. OK…I get it!

Comments about the Beatitudes always goes back to the same meditation tenets throughout the book, over and over again, as if one could simply swap around the contents to the point that the titles of the chapters are almost irrelevant. The overall message is good.
