Story
The unauthorized story of Lululemon. Chip Wilson’s part in this story comes from the learning of thousands of mistakes. He set the culture, business model, quality platform, and people development program and then got out of the way. Lululemon’s exponential growth, culture, and brand strength have few peers, and it is because of those employees who choose to be great. This book is also about missed opportunity - five years of missed opportunity. Chip was playing to win while the directors of the company he founded were playing not to lose.

Story
From the best-selling author and former Starbucks CEO, here is a story that is part dramatic memoir, part blueprint of the new responsibilities that leaders and citizens share in America today. The book weaves two parallel narratives to show how experiences from Howard Schultz’s troubled childhood - some of which he has never before disclosed - propelled him out of the housing projects and fueled his efforts to build a global brand and redefine the role of a company in society. Ultimately, Schultz reveals the potential we all have to transform communities and uplift lives.

Publisher's Summary
In Pour Your Heart Into It, Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz shares the passion, values, and inspiration that drive this fascinating company. Placing as much importance on employees as on profits, paying as much attention to creativity as to growth, motivated by enduring principles including "Don't be threatened by people smarter than you", and "Everything matters", Starbucks is living proof that a company can lead with its heart, nurture its soul, and still make money.

Enjoyed this read
Short and sweet. The book presents some critical concepts in running an organization, thinking about brand, building teams and evolving in role as the founder. While I do recommend the book, I prefer entrepreneur stories who are written by an author / researcher rather than the entrepreneur themselves. This is mostly because of the sense of bias the autobiographical version of these stories take rather than presenting a deep dive on both success and failure that was overcome. Good book overall.
