Story
Conspiracies didn’t always seem so clear and present. It used to be that people with tin-foil hats who were convinced of secret messages coming through the radio were easily disregarded as kooks and looney tunes. But these days, conspiracies feel alive and well. It’s become remarkably clear that a vast swath of people believe really bonkers things. Why is that? How did these theories proliferate? Is there a kernel of truth to it or are they fully fiction? Ben Bowlin, Matt Frederick, and Noel Brown are the hosts of the popular iHeart podcast that seeks to answer these questions.

Acclaimed science writer and broadcaster Jay Ingram wonders the same things. After a long career of asking important questions (does time speed up as we age? How much Neanderthal is in me? Why do some animals throw their feces?), he's here to put our scientific quandaries to rest.

Story
Bill Bryson once again proves himself to be an incomparable companion as he guides us through the human body - how it functions, its remarkable ability to heal itself, and (unfortunately) the ways it can fail. Full of extraordinary facts (your body made a million red blood cells since you started reading this) and irresistible Bryson-esque anecdotes, The Body will lead you to a deeper understanding of the miracle that is life in general and you in particular. As Bill Bryson writes, "We pass our existence within this wobble of flesh and yet take it almost entirely for granted."

Publisher's Summary
This program is read by the authors and includes an audio exclusive bonus conversation.
From the duo behind the massively successful and award-winning podcast Stuff You Should Know comes an unexpected look at things you thought you knew.
Josh Clark and Chuck Bryant started the podcast Stuff You Should Know back in 2008 because they were curious - curious about the world around them, curious about what they might have missed in their formal educations, and curious to dig deeper on stuff they thought they understood.
As it turns out, they aren't the only curious ones. They've since amassed a rabid fan base, making Stuff You Should Know one of the most popular podcasts in the world. Armed with their inquisitive natures and a passion for sharing, they uncover the weird, fascinating, delightful, or unexpected elements of a wide variety of topics.
The pair has now taken their near-boundless "whys" and "hows" to the chapters of an audiobook for the first time - featuring a completely new array of subjects that they’ve long wondered about and wanted to explore. Follow along as the two dig into the underlying stories of everything from the origin of Murphy beds, to the history of facial hair, to the psychology of being lost.
Have you ever wondered about the world around you and wished to see the magic in everyday things? Come get curious with Stuff You Should Know. With Josh and Chuck as your guide, there’s something interesting about everything (...except maybe jackhammers).

EGG-CELL-ANT!
I'm only on chapter 7 of the audiobook and I'm already engrossed! This audiobook is perfect for lifting any boring task into pure joy. Josh Clark and Chuck Bryant give their usual welcoming and friendly attitude in their performance. No wonder they have a spot on Wikipedia!

Great but oddly different!
I have listened to hundreds of episodes of SYSK and I was pumped for this book release! There is a good range of topics they touch on, and each chapter has a nice flow from beginning to end. The biggest change is that it misses the exact same vibe as the podcast. The only real differences? It doesn't feel as organic since it doesnt have the back-and-forth banter as the podcasts do. Otherwise, still definitely worth the credit for all the SYSK.

Content is good but the performance is not.
I imagined this more as a book than as a podcast, it's something in between and I didn't like that. They don't sound as genuine as in a podcast but also they don't sound formal enough to be narrating a book. Probably is not the performance itself but more like the way it's written that make it sound like that.

Chucks chapters and topics are awful. Bad format.
I am a big fan of the podcast and was very excited for the book. Unfortunately it feels very much like they each wrote half of the book. The half Josh wrote is interesting and funny. The other half is awful. The banter from the podcast can often help lift Chucks performance, but in this book he drowns alone.
just listen to the podcast. it's better than the book.
Replace Chuck in 2021.
