Reynolds cites the latest brain science to show why reflective inquiry works and provides techniques, tips, and structures for creating breakthrough conversations.

You work hard. You put in the hours. Yet, you feel like you are constantly treading water with "good work" that keeps you going but never quite moves you ahead. Or worse, you are mired in "bad work" - endless meetings and energy-draining bureaucratic traps. Do More Great Work gets to the heart of the problem: Even the best performers are spending less than a fraction of their time doing "great work" - the kind of innovative work that pushes us forward, stretches our creativity, and truly satisfies us.

The Center for Disease Control also recently reported a dramatic rise in sexually transmitted disease nationwide. In Rhode Island alone, since the onset of online dating, reported cases of Syphilis has risen 79%, and HIV has increased by 33%.

Why do some products capture our attention, while others flop? What makes us engage with certain products out of habit? Is there a pattern underlying how technologies hook us? This audiobook introduces listeners to the "Hooked Model", a four-step process companies use to build customer habits. Through consecutive cycles through the hook, successful products reach their ultimate goal of bringing users back repeatedly - without depending on costly advertising or aggressive messaging.

Health and wellness campaigns preach avoidance of unhealthy foods, sedentary lifestyles, tobacco, drugs, and alcohol, but rarely preach avoidance of unhealthy, difficult, or toxic people. Yet the health benefits of removing toxic people from your life may have far greater benefits to both physical and psychological health. We need to learn to be better gatekeepers for our minds, bodies, and souls. Narcissism, entitlement, and incivility have become the new world order, and we are all in trouble. They are not only normalized but also increasingly incentivized.

Perhaps the most influential science book ever written, On the Origin of Species has continued to fascinate for more than a century after its initial publication. Its controversial theory that populations evolve and adapt through a process known as natural selection led to heated scientific, philosophical, and religious debate, revolutionizing every discipline in its wake. With its clear, concise, and surprisingly enjoyable prose, On the Origin of Species is both captivating and edifying.

At work, we’re taught to lead the conversation. On social media, we shape our personal narratives. At parties, we talk over one another. So do our politicians. We’re not listening. And no one is listening to us. Despite living in a world where technology allows constant digital communication and opportunities to connect, it seems no one is really listening or even knows how. And it’s making us lonelier, more isolated, and less tolerant than ever before. A listener by trade, New York Times contributor Kate Murphy wanted to know how we got here.

Publisher's Summary
From the author of the phenomenal best seller The Coaching Habit comes a book of advice...on how to give less advice. Ah, the irony.
The Coaching Habit was an unexpected best seller: over 750 thousand copies sold so far, a Wall Street Journal best seller, and used by people and organizations around the world. If The Coaching Habit says, “Here are the seven essential questions to be more coach-like”, The Advice Trap is about getting to grips with how to actually change your behavior, so you stay curious a little bit longer.
It sounds like it should be easy, but it’s not. To get there, leading coach and trainer Michael Bungay Stanier offers specific coaching strategies, particularly on how to focus on what matters most. The audiobook of The Advice Trap gives you tools to make your conversations, coaching, and otherwise, irresistible.
If you’ve already heard The Advice Trap, thank you, and there’s a ton of added value content for you in the audiobook, too. Michael’s invited other voices to respond to what was most useful for them in each of the chapters, so there are different perspectives and less of a monologue of advice.
You’ll hear from:
- Pau Gasol, NBA All-Star
- Dr. Alex Osterwalder, leading management thinker
- Dr. Kofi Hope, co-founder of Monumental
- Feyzi Fatehi, CEO of Corent Technology
- Leanne Hughes, host of the First Time Facilitator podcast
- Dr. Shannon Minifie, CEO of Box of Crayons
- Sandy McIntosh, EVP and CHRO of TELUS
- Tyson Yunkaporta, author of the acclaimed book Sand Talk
In 2019, Michael Bungay Stanier was named the number-one thought leader in coaching, and was short-listed for the coaching award by Thinkers50, the “Oscars of Management”. His works been featured in journals such as HBR, Fast Company, Forbes, and Inc., and his company, Box of Crayons, has trained more than 100,000 people, regular managers, leaders, and individual contributors in the tools and mindset required for this essential leadership behavior: staying curious and being more coach-like. You’ll get all of that wisdom and experience when you listen to The Advice Trap. (And, by the way, thank you in advance for buying it and listening.)

The Author Shouldn't Narrate His Own Books
Though he references overcoming the challenge of his speech impediment, its distracting to the point its annoying to listen to and takes away from the concept of the book. His book The Coaching Habit is an essential read/isten(where he wisely did not narrate). This book is a largely unnecessary expansion on a core concept of The Coaching Habit. Could have been given an effective treatment in an article. You will come to detest the word "fogifiers"
