We live in a world that’s obsessed with talent. We celebrate gifted students in school, natural athletes in sports, and child prodigies in music. But admiring people who start out with innate advantages leads us to overlook the distance we ourselves can travel. We underestimate the range of skills that we can learn and how good we can become. We can all improve at improving. And when opportunity doesn’t knock, there are ways to build a door.

He has made a practice of helping people transcend their self-imposed expectations in order to reconnect with a state of innocence from which the surprising becomes inevitable. Chapter Mismatch
- By Vyazh Kuga on 2021-10-15
Written by: Robert Greene
Publisher's Summary
Look around.
We are on the brink of catastrophe.
A dystopia of excessive pleasure, comfort, and a false sense of security as to how successful you will be is no longer just a relatable movie scene.
Since birth, you were spoon-fed ideas, beliefs, and routines that program you into the same default path as everyone else. This leads to the same quality of life as everyone else.
It’s no wonder why most people feel anxious, overwhelmed, and have a cloud of meaninglessness hovering over their heads at all times.
Focus is the cure.
But not the narrow focus we associate with deep work and study.
Focus is what separates action from distraction, meaning from meaningless, and success from failure.
Focus is how you conduct your own adventure to stop hurling toward the dead end that was assigned to you by society for their benefit.
This will be a painful journey to find meaning, reinvent yourself, and create your ideal future.
The only thing more painful than seeing what you are capable of is not seeing what you are capable of, and I can’t think of anything more worthwhile to dedicate your life to.

Will need to listen more than once
As expected, this book was jam packed with useful info. I had to pause regularly to take notes, and I'll need to listen again to be sure I absorbed everything.
Highly recommended for anyone who's looking to get a handle on their focus/attention, especially if they want to use that knowledge to step into the world of digital entrepreneurship.
Bonus points for subscribing to Dan's YT channel and newsletter. Some of the most value packed content out there to get the foundation to be an effective creator.

Change your life through focus and intention
I had to pick up this book after all of the value Dan has added to my life.
Like many others I found Dan through YouTube on his one man business series. I went down a rabbit hole of his content and had my eyes opened to his clear and fresh perspective on all things personal development and personal branding I’ve been diving into the past 5 years.
I have purchased Dan’s valuable courses of Digital Economics and the things I’ve learned there have allowed me to pursue my online fitness coaching business full time for the past 3 years now.
I love Dan’s way of thinking in personal development and branding, spirituality, social media, the creator economy and so much more.
The Art of Focus was a no brainer for me to grab a copy of both a physical copy and the audiobook after all the value I’ve perceived and the book delivered Dan’s best value and insights to further fuel my passion and desire to be a one man business in the creator economy.
The lesson’s I specifically learned on focus have been nothing short of game changer, allowing me to work towards my own 4 hour work day by understanding working efficiently and identifying what levers I truly need to pull every day.
Dan has honestly changed my life and I’ll never stop absorbing his great content, podcasts, books, courses and whatever else he throws my way! 10/10 must read book!

Life is a game and we either play our game or a part in someone else’s.
I’m not sure overall how the book landed for me. There were a couple of moments that resonated with me notably that life is like a game and we either create and play our own game or just play a part in someone else s. I very much found wisdom in that insight - and it is something to remember everyday.
Much of the book felt like a bunch of “one liners”. It didn’t land like personal lived experience or personal wisdom rather regurgitated content from other's books, repackaged. Kind of like a musical band coming out with a CD "box set" of all their favourite hits. I supposed it just "felt to me" like the goal of the book was to create something (...anything) that can be sold to make an "online" dollar in the digital economy. Akin to those pop up ads on youtube.
I do want to come back and 'listen' to the book once again - maybe I'll see it with different eyes.

Concise approach to articulating the art of focus
Loved this books first chapter the most, thats where it all starts; the principles. Focus on the goals really can change everything.
Dan's a pretty solid motivator with a no BS approach to how he articulates. I like that. It's the kind of coach/mentor I, along with other people need in my life. Looking forward to rereading this badboy again and aligning with the agenda of things to come.
Focus poeple, get the book and get to work... Thanks Dan.

Direct Experience is King
My Takeaway:
"Do not judge things you have not experienced. You will never have the access to another persons state of mind. " -- Dan Koe
This statement stood out the most for me. Since I use to give out advices that I didn't have experience on.
The Book:
I've read and watch almost all of Dan Koe's content.
I purchased this audiobook as my way of thanking him for changing my life. Thinking the book will be just the summary of all of his writings (newsletter and YouTube).
But I was wrong. There are a lot more lessons I pulled out from it.
I've managed to finish listening to the audiobook because I did it going to work while driving.
I need to take down notes next time around.

Listen once, take notes on the second read
I am an ardent Dan follower so take this review with that in mind. If you follow Dan you have a sense of his content and his overall espousing to avoid the life of “walk the dog, go to work, go to bed, repeat”.
So I purchased the book both knowing it would have this woven in to it but hoping it wouldn’t be the only moral of the story. I wanted fresh content. I won’t give away the story line but I will say that I was pleased that the content didn’t disappoint.
I have listened to the full book and am now debating either going back and listening to take notes on a deeper level, or more likely, buying the paperback. I honestly wish I had bought the fancy book box when I had the chance. Such is life.
Take home message- read / listen to this book. It’s fantastic. Peace.

Tons of wisdom.
This is a good complement to Dan Koe’s YouTube videos…lots of background philosophy. It seems stronger than his videos in that it gives context to where he’s coming from. It seems weaker in that he has so much great content that this almost feels like this is for superfans and not necessary to get tremendous value from his free content. He has so much of it that it’s a challenge to create something ‘better’ for sale (a paradox of his generosity??) That being said, I want to support and explore his paid content because he’s speaking truth about being a writer. I will listen again for the gems that really stuck out to me as there were many. I will likely take his writing course in the future. Dan is one of the most listenable creators of today.
