But theirs is a complicated relationship, so when Erika mentions a last minute invitation to a barbecue with her neighbors, Tiffany and Vid, Clementine and Sam don’t hesitate.

Story
As the war begins, Hanna Rombauer, a young German woman, is sent to live with her aunt and uncle after her mother’s death. Thrown into a life of luxury she never expected, Hanna soon finds herself unwillingly matched with an SS officer twenty years her senior. The independence that her mother lovingly fostered in her is considered highly inappropriate as the future wife of an up-and-coming officer and she is sent to a “bride school.” There, in a posh villa on the outskirts of town, Hanna is taught how to be a “proper” German wife.

Publisher's Summary
"My darling Cecilia, if you’re reading this, then I’ve died...."
Imagine that your husband wrote you a letter, to be opened after his death. Imagine, too, that the letter contains his deepest, darkest secret - something with the potential to destroy not just the life you built together, but the lives of others as well. Imagine, then, that you stumble across that letter while your husband is still very much alive....
Cecilia Fitzpatrick has achieved it all - she's an incredibly successful businesswoman, a pillar of her small community, and a devoted wife and mother. Her life is as orderly and spotless as her home. But that letter is about to change everything, and not just for her: Rachel and Tess barely know Cecilia - or each other - but they too are about to feel the earth-shattering repercussions of her husband’s secret.
Acclaimed author Liane Moriarty has written a gripping, thought-provoking novel about how well it is really possible to know our spouses - and, ultimately, ourselves.
What the critics say
“Spellbinding.... A knockout!” (Emily Giffin, New York Times best-selling author)
“The Husband’s Secret is so good, you won’t be able to keep it to yourself.” (USA Today)
“Lip-smacking and sharply intelligent.” (Entertainment Weekly)

What delicious secrets
Everyone has a secret and somehow Moriarty has woven a tale so believable, interesting, and, wonderful to ponder. What would you do knowing someone’s secret? What if you didn’t show up on time, how would your life’s path change. I love the Australian narrator who brings it all to life Down Under style. Great book.

Enjoyable narration, tiresome and bleak storyline.
This story seems like it was written by someone who does not think any marriage is good. I could not relate to any of the characters and found most dislikable. The story seemed unnecessarily depressing with few redeeming features.
