Story
To Don Raymonde Aprile’s children, he was a loyal family member, their father’s adopted “nephew.” To the FBI he was a man who would rather ride his horses than do Mob business. No one knew why Aprile, the last great American don, had adopted Astorre Viola many years before in Sicily; no one suspected how he had carefully trained him...and how, while the don’s children claimed respectable careers in America, Astorre Viola waited for his time to come.

Publisher's Summary
Mario Puzo has created a sequel to The Godfather that is every bit as compelling and dramatic. But The Sicilian is a distinct literary achievement in its historical inspiration and its vivid portrait of Sicilian peasant life.

I do not like multiple narrators
I enjoy one voice from a talented narrator, someone to tell a story . The best narrators can do different voices for each character, I do not like a full cast . It sounds like a play, or TV with the picture gone. Or a radio play. I read the book in 1984 , saw the movie, great story. But I hated the narration and lasted one chapter.

Good book, annoying narration.
The story was great and I didn't mind the main narrator like some people. However whichever actor they got to play Don Croce is probably the most annoying sounding person I've ever heard in my life. Every time he breathes in he sounds like he's clearing his throat and he breathes after couple words. As one of the main characters this gets very old very fast and made me consider if it was worth putting up or if I should just drop the book

Listen to the sample first
I find that the narrator speaks too fast making it difficulty to comprehend and definitely do enjoy the book.

Loved the book, hate the audio version.
One of my favourite books so decided to get the audio. BIG MISTAKE! Main narrator sounds like he is telling the news in a terrible monotone. Then the rest of the cast have the worst accents possible. Are they trying to sound Italian? Cause it usually sounds like Bert from Bert and Ernie. I have a lot of audio books and normally I can still enjoy it even if the narrator isn't great, but in thie case I had to stop after 3 chapters. It was just too painful.
