Publisher's Summary
In the wake of the Dropsite Massacre at Isstvan V, the survivors of the Salamanders Legion searched long and hard for their fallen primarch, but to no avail. Little did they know that while Vulkan might have wished himself dead, he lives still...languishing in a hidden cell for the entertainment of a cruel gaoler, his brother Konrad Curze.
Enduring a series of hellish tortures designed to break his body and spirit, Vulkan witnesses the depths of the Night Haunter's depravity but also discovers something else - a revelation that could change the course of the entire war.

A wild trip into madness
A well written journey into the deterioration of one's mental state. The Night Lord is truly a dark presence.

Good if you want a Salamanders story
it was an enjoyable story but there's a few times where the dialogue between characters could use some improvement. the setting also shifts back and forth in time quite frequently

one of my favorites
Killer awesome. Obviously a must listen for any Salamanders enthusiast, but also very cool background info/scenes about the heresy, Istvan and other overarching plot lines. narration is absolutely brilliant, the Vulkan - Conrad Curze interactions and has been some of my favorite voice work among black library titles.

Another great book in the series, a deep look into the salamander legion as well as in to Kurzes mind set. Would recommend a great listen.

I didn’t expect to like it that much!
I really was surprised at how much I liked a salamander cantered story. I’m dying to know what happens next.
