Story
Jasper Sutton—London’s most dedicated scoundrel—needs a wife, and he needs one quickly. He needs one yesterday, in fact. His requirements are precise: she must be capable of mothering the wild twin daughters who have unexpectedly appeared in his life, and so must possess the patience of a saint and the understanding of an angel. Better still if she is plain and has no expectation of a true marriage. He is not about to reform his ways.

Publisher's Summary
Gillie Trewlove knows what a stranger’s kindness can mean, having been abandoned on a doorstep as a baby and raised by the woman who found her there. So, when suddenly faced with a soul in need at her door - or the alleyway by her tavern - Gillie doesn’t hesitate. But he’s no infant. He’s a grievously injured, distractingly handsome gentleman who doesn’t belong in Whitechapel, much less recuperating in Gillie’s bed....
Being left at the altar is humiliating; being rescued from thugs by a woman - albeit a brave and beautiful one - is the pièce de résistance to the duke of Thornley’s extraordinarily bad day. After nursing him back from the brink, Gillie agrees to help him comb London’s darker corners for his wayward bride. But every moment together is edged with desire and has Thorne rethinking his choice of wife. Yet Gillie knows the aristocracy would never accept a duchess born in sin. Thorne, however, is determined to prove to her that no obstacle is insurmountable when a duke loves a woman.

Surprised me how good it is.
This book is about two mature adults falling in love. The heroine is a strong independent woman with her own business and life. She isn’t looking for a man to make her life complete. She doesn’t cry, complain or throw tantrums. I really liked her. The hero is a man trying to do what’s expected of his position, title and family obligations. He has no axe to grind or trauma to work through. He treats the heroine with respect and dignity.
I really enjoyed this book. It was quite different from most of I have read previous in a really awesome way. I highly recommend if you are looking for a drama free love story where the couple don’t have ridiculous misunderstandings, jump to conclusions or generally act in way that make you wish you could smack them. Really good, just read it!
