  • Hanuman and the other Vanaras go further south in search of Sita. They face various impediments in their quest. They pass the barren land of Kaandu, and the fertile valley of Swayamprabha. They meet Sampati, Jatayu's brother. Hanuman is reminded of his superpowers and uses them to leap to Lanka. Hanuman reaches Lanka and is stopped by Lanka Lakshmi, the Protector of Lanka. Hanuman defeats her, and her back story is told here. She came to Lanka due to a curse. Having fought Hanuman, she is relieved of the curse. Hanuman enters Ashoka Vatika and sees Sita sitting under an Asoka tree. During his life, Ravana has acquired great boons, but also powerful curses. Sita relates these curses to her lady-guards, telling them how he must one day suffer the consequences of his actions.
