À propos de cet audio
When dreams and expectations clash in a flurry of sparks, an actress and an aristocrat find themselves searching for common ground. Lady Victoria Penchant has had enough scandal for one lifetime, and she’s sworn off drama for good. But when she makes an unexpected return to her family’s castle during high tourist season, drama is exactly what she finds—in the form of a Hollywood film crew and their sharp-tongued, stunning star, Sophia LeBlanc.
Sparks of every kind fly from their first encounter, and the drama doubles as Vic’s every decision draws her closer to Sophia and further from the expectations of the prestigious position she has been raised to protect. Sophia has worked and scraped and fought her way up from nothing to the brink of stardom. She’s spent her career taking direction from rich, pretty, privileged men, and she has no intention of letting some rich, pretty, privileged aristocrat stand in the way now that her wildest dreams are within reach.
She vows to stay in control of every situation during filming, but the Lady of the Manor proves to be an unexpectedly stubborn and alluring challenge to the goals she’s fought so hard to achieve. As the summer heats up, Vic and Sophia learn they have far more in common than their intense sexual attraction, but will that be enough to overcome the pressures of proud histories and find their way toward a new vision of forever?
©2021 Rachel L Spangler (P)2025 Rachel L SpanglerI think this is by far one of the best openings in any of the hundreds of sapphic romances I've read and the rest of the story didn't disappoint. I love Vic and I enjoyed Sophia and how she helped Vic find both her power and her joy.
Themes: overcoming class divide, family expectations and duty vs love, and navigating whether or not and how much to compromise parts of identities for our jobs
The narrators were both great at character voices, but I disliked the American one's narrative voice (ie when she did parts other than dialog) as I found her overly bland then so I knocked a point off narration for that... it might have been 2 points if not for the other narrator being all around amazing so I averaged their scores for a solid 4 points. Otherwise, no complaints. Personally I enjoy more explicit descriptions during sex scenes, but keeping a lot of the sex kind of vague, sensual, and romantic instead of explicit didn't interfere with the storytelling at all I so I see that as a stylistic choice not a fault with the writing. Although, I must admit, some of those scenes started out so hot it was a bit of a tease that it didn't get more detailed. *winks and sticks out tongue*
