game developer forgets how to modify games

fun idea for a story, but it goes downhill fast. a game developer that has no control on the game? no settings, no God mode? npcs become self aware and actively attack the PCs, west world style, and the lead developer hums and ha's over resetting the game?! The MC is too much of a moron, for my taste
