I've read all the Shadowlands series. This is the first one that brought me to tears, repeatedly. That's very unusual for a Shadowlands book. Tearjerkers are not Cherise Sinclair's usual, but this story was so wonderfully rich in twists and turns and the characters were portrayed so deeply and with such delight and Pathos, their struggles to find love and acceptance and family felt so real and tender that I just couldn't help it. I think this is my favorite of all of the series which really surprised me since I avoided this book because the protagonists start out as a Domme and a vanilla security guard. What they and several of our favorite Doms and subs end up as will make you cry in all the best possible ways. Oh and the narrative performances of Noah & Erin were exceptional too.
