So, as far as books go, its definitely not the worst I've red, but its far from the best.

While I don't have a problem with her wanting to rescue her abusive sister, I still think she dumb. Every person should make choices in life they can live with because they're the one who has to live with themselves at the end of the day. If that means you can't leave someone else to suffer a fate that was originally meant for you, that's fine because you have to live with yourself. But for fuck sakes, be smart about it. But then you literally get yourself into trouble every time you turn around.

This is where shes stupid. She goes without any preparation to what is supposedly one of the most dangerous places in the world with no information, no plan, and a little money. You spent years researching all the other places you wanted to go, but can't spend 1 day looking anything up about the most dangerous place. Just waltz into the front gates of mount doom why don't you?

Then him. He swings from slaver to lover at the drop of a dime. one second he's asking for consent, the next, you're a s*x toy, and should be greatful to be one. His personality needs to pick a damn lane. I'm not a person who has an issue with the morally gray, or even black, but seriously. Does consent mater or not?

Besides that, the entire thing is very inner monolog. seriously. 90% of the book is them thinking. and not a bit at a time. entire chapters of inner monologue. Theres one chapter where hes supposed to be ripping a spy appart and its literally 20 seconds of that at the beginning, 7 minutes of inner monologue for the 100th time about how dangerous she is because shes distracting, 20 seconds of him telling everybody he has to go, then another 3 minutes of inner monologue about how scared he is for her safety. And alot of the book follows this pattern. Even during the smexy times.

I felt the voice acting left a lot to be desired. His voice actually reminded me of William Shatner. He pauses every other word, emphasizes weird words, makes up and down the pitch scale randomly... it was very Shatner. I did not like it much.

Her voice was over dramatically sad for everything. something shes sad about? Full almost crying lilt. Something shes happy about? Full almost crying lilt. Something shes angry about? Full almost crying lilt. Turned on? Frustrated? Flirting? Having fun with friends? Same thing. It made for an overall very difficult listen.

The premise was really good, I just wish the characters were a little better and the VA wasn't so hard to listen to.

DNF 70%. Very Meh.

I originally read both books already in this series and had to get the audiobook versions. The story and characters were very memorable for me and still think about them still, so happy I can just listen to whenever now. Narrators did an amazing job too! :)

This is a Series, I think back on it a lot!
