Publisher's Summary

O is a young, beautiful fashion photographer in Paris. One day her lover, René, takes her to a château, where she is enslaved, with René's approval, and systematically sexually assaulted by various other men. Later, René turns O over to Sir Stephen, an English friend who intensifies the brutality. But the final humiliation is yet to come.

Spoilers in preface, no story arch, flat ending.

The one hour preface by the interpreter contains spoilers that, when reached in the story are anticlimactic.

There was no story arch, but liniar progression. The writing passes over important events in a sentence or two. There's no context to O in where she comes from or what motivates her. There's no sense she derives any pleasure from the things that happen to her, other than one or two lines here and there that simply say she loves her Master or that she only dreads displeasing him. There's no conclusion, but rather just cuts off on a flat note.

Fictional Tale of Deranged Love

It was superbly performed, flawlessly written, intriguing twist of fate that takes love out of someone who loved too much.
Felt incredibly sad after listening.
Perpetuates a myth than dangerously treads the line of devotion and abuse.
If the gender roles changed, what would be the response?
