This wasn't supposed to happen to me. I'm supposed to be at the top of my career. Untouchable. Worshiped. Finally proving to all the jerks in my life that I made it. I'm at the top.
Then a video that shouldn't exist leaks and everything comes crashing down. I'm about to lose it all and I can't seem to get out of my own way. My agent banishes me to a place that technology can't touch while he tries to salvage my career.
I'm caught between rage and deep depression, lashing out at everyone and everything around me. I have myself to blame but right now, all I want is to drown in my misery. Even when something unexpected and good comes along, all I can do is push and push until I'm once more drowning all alone.
Deryke
I don't know what's come over me. Why does this disaster of a hockey player suddenly call to my heart and everything inside my body and mind? I mean, the world knows what's in his pants and I've never been even slightly turned on by that! Why now? Why him?
Even when he's bratting so hard I want to break him, I can see that he acts the way he does because he's hurting somewhere deep inside. He won't let me in, but for some unknown reason, I can't let Maximus Latham go.
He needs me. He needs someone to believe in him and not disappear the minute he messes up. He needs someone to love him for him, not for being the hockey god he is. Except I'm not sure I can reach him in time before he self-destructs.
But damned if I'm not going to try.

I honestly thought this title wrecked me in print but HOO BOY the narration just DESTROYED ME. Shawn K was just the most precious Max, messy, lost, h0rny, needy and desperate for love and support. And don’t even get me started on @simondornet as Deryke haha 😮💨👌🏻 when he goes full D/s D@ddy Deryke mode I’m like WOW excuse me, sir that is SMEGGSY AF your voice should be illegal! *replays all of deryke’s chapters for REASONS* Hahahaha
Anyway, wow, I am SO soft for this book but also it’s like a full a$$ Knk bingo card so like you get sweet, compassionate mental health battles and personal growth wrapped in a deliciously naughty spice blanket
TL:DR Max is a superstar hockey forward that lived a very chaotic personal life that usually lands him in hot water. After a film of him at a private Knk club gets leaked to the internet his team puts him on notice and sends him into exile for the summer. He lands on a secluded gay island resort with no tech, depressed and lifeless with no support.
There he runs into a goalie from another team, he’s only met him a handful of times, Deryke, and the man takes an interest in him, worried that he’ll hurt himself or worse.
Max fights him at first, but Deryke is determined for reasons he doesn’t understand, to take care of this man when no one else will. He stays with Max, bathes and feeds him, wrangles his bratty tendencies until he’s almost human.
They have a connection that neither understand but they can’t get enough of each other, Deryke is the unrelenting support that Max has never had in his life and Deryke finds himself falling for Max the brat, the firecracker, the hockey player, the soft marshmallow who just needs a hug.
I literally can’t say enough about these two, the way they fight for each other, the way they fight to make everything work for their dreams. The epilogue is especially amazing.
Seriously. Read this book!
