First story in the IMMORTALS AFTER DARK SERIES by Kresley Cole . An amazing listen that dives deep into a exciting and well developed world of Immortals .
Valkyries are said to have been born after a female warrior screams for victory and courage during battle. .When she is killed on the battlefield and her cry is heard by Odin and Freya . They preserve her courage and thus her rebirth as a Valkyrie. Valkyrie are often described as a symbol of the force and power within every woman both good and evil with glorious beauty. They hold power and prestige over everyday mortals and some Immortals . The Valkyrie, per say , eat lightning ⚡️ which provides supernatural speed , strength, and senses.
Enter Our Valkyrie, Myst being held within a cell in Mount Oblack Castle observing a battle . Between the Horde made up of the fallen merciless cruel blood drinkers and the Newly formed Army of the Forebears who forswear drinking from the flesh . Myst , described as the most beautiful and deadly of her kind , of course wishes to battle them all for her most hated enemies are the Vampires. Myst is ever hopeful that the Hordes Ivo will be killed during this attack upon the castle as he is her jailor . But either group Myst considers her sworn enemy.
Enter the Forebear General Nickolai Wroth who seeks to gain knowledge about the Lore , basically all immortal beings , from Myst . He is unaware as are the other Forebears what exactly they have within the cell and cells of Castle Oblack . He tries to bribe her with her release but this tactic fails next comes torture . But as he seeks to interrogate her he stumbles across the fact ….She is his bride 👰‍♀️ therefore he is unable do do her any harm . But more importantly his dead body awakens and his heart begins to beat for her .
Now Myst’s friends arrive at the party about this time and poor Nickolai loses her in their escape for the next five years . Nickolai , now alive cannot enjoy sexual delights with anyone other than his chosen bride and five years chasing said bride breeds a lot of anger and frustration to say the least . But he also dreams of her life events which brings out jealousy and more questions than answers. But present day New Orleans is where he finds her trail. But Myst refuses her husband’s until he reaches and removes a piece of jewelry from about Myst. The first ever it was able to remove it , EVER . This piece of jewelry removes Myst’s free will totally. She is under his control…..
But what does the future hold for a Valkyrie and a Vampire? Can Myst ever fall in love with an Enemy? Can Wroth change his bride into accepting him as her beloved ? This audiobook is awesome and totally hot ….ENJOY 😊
