Agyei Tyehimba is an educator, author, and community organizer born and raised in Harlem, New York. For the past 36 years, Agyei has educated Black and Latino youth, protested racist institutions, taught parents how to advocate for their children, and taught community residents and college students how to organize and disrupt racism. Agyei is co-founder of a middle school in the Bronx, New York, named KAPPA Middle School 215. He is the founder and director of Harlem Liberation School, a Black political education center, and Black Liberation University, an online brand of live broadcasts, courses and interviews discussing Africana Studies, Black politics and culture and community organizing. Agyei is a bestselling author with five books to his credit: Game Over The Rise and Transformation of a Harlem Hustler, The Blueprint: A BSU Handbook, Truth for our Youth: A Self-Empowerment Book for Teens, My Two Cents and Leadership: Philosophy, Ethics & Practice.He has appeared on C-Span, NY1 News, HuffPost Live, and a documentary entitled “Alpo Martinez: The Mayor of Harlem on the A&E Network. Agyei earned his Bachelor’s Degree in sociology from Syracuse University, his Master’s Degree in Professional Studies from Cornell University, and his Master’s Degree in Afro-American Studies from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
