Andrea J. (Andi) Simon, PhD is an award-winning author, internationally recognized corporate anthropologist, speaker, and founder and CEO of Simon Associates Management Consultants (SAMC). For more than two decades, she has helped companies, organizations, and leaders navigate disruption, culture change, and innovation by applying anthropology to business transformation and growth strategy.
Today, Andi is at the forefront of a growing conversation about reinvention, purpose, and the future of retirement. Her newest book, Rethink Retirement: It’s Not the End—But the Beginning of What’s Next, explores how individuals, couples, and organizations can reimagine retirement not as an ending, but as a transition into a meaningful new chapter of life. Drawing on interviews, research, and her own personal journey, Andi challenges traditional assumptions about aging, identity, purpose, and work in a world where people are living longer and seeking continued significance.
Andi is the author of three acclaimed books. On the Brink: A Fresh Lens to Take Your Business to New Heights won the 2017 Axiom Bronze Award and introduced business leaders to the power of corporate anthropology and Blue Ocean Strategy to uncover new opportunities for growth. Rethink: Smashing the Myths of Women in Business, winner of the 2022 Axiom Bronze Award and an Amazon best-seller, challenged outdated assumptions about women in leadership and business. Women Mean Business, co-authored with Edie Fraser and Robyn Freedman Spizman, celebrates extraordinary women leaders and the impact they are making through purpose-driven enterprises.
Across her books, speaking, workshops, and consulting, Andi helps people and organizations rethink who they are, how they lead, and what comes next during times of profound change. Her work blends practical business insight with a deeply human understanding of culture, behavior, and transformation.
Before founding SAMC in 2002, Andi held senior executive leadership roles in banking and healthcare during periods of major industry disruption, including positions at Citibank, First National Bank of Highland, Poughkeepsie Savings Bank, Montefiore Medical Center, and St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center.
Earlier in her career, she served as a tenured professor of anthropology and American studies at Ramapo College of New Jersey and later taught entrepreneurship as a visiting professor at Washington University in St. Louis.
Andi is also the host of the acclaimed podcast On the Brink with Andi Simon, ranked among the Top 20 podcasts on the topic of change, where she interviews CEOs, entrepreneurs, futurists, and thought leaders to help listeners ‘see, feel, and think’ differently about business, leadership, innovation, and life.
She and her husband and business partner, Andrew Simon, continue to “rethink retirement” together while remaining deeply engaged in work, family, learning, and the causes they care about.
