Bastian Zach was born in Leoben in 1973 and lives as an independent writer in Vienna. Together with Matthias Bauer, Bastian Zach writes screenplays (including "One Way Trip 3D" and "Northmen - A Viking Saga") and novels as Zach/Bauer. Their " Morbus Dei" trilogy (Morbus Dei - The Arrival, Morbus Dei - Inferno, Morbus Dei - The Sign of Aries) became a bestseller with critics and the public. After the two-part adventure saga "The Blood of the Picts", Zach/Bauer's latest historical novel "Tears of the Earth" was published in October 2019, and the sequel "The Empire of the Two Crosses" will follow in November 2020. "Die Schmatzekatze" is a literary excursion into completely new territories and Bastian Zach's first children's book. The love of historical stories that lurk around every corner in his chosen home of Vienna inspired him to write his crime novel debut "Donaumelodien - Praterblut", which was published by Gmeiner Verlag in April 2020. The novel was nominated for the renowned Leo Perutz Prize 2020. In September 2020, "Donaumelodien - Morbid Stories" was published, a selection of 11 selected short stories from historical Vienna.
