Christine Leunens has published four novels, Primordial Soup, Caging Skies, A Can of Sunshine, and In Amber's Wake. Her work has been translated into over twenty languages. A Can of Sunshine was selected as 'Best Books of the Year 2013' by the NZ Herald and Caging Skies was nominated for the Prix Medicis and the Prix FNAC. Taika Waititi’s film adaptation of the book, Jojo Rabbit, was nominated for two Golden Globes, six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and six BAFTAs. It won the Academy Award Award for Best Adapted Screenplay in 2020 as well as a Humanitas Prize for writing promoting human dignity, meaning and freedom. Leunens' historical novel, In Amber's Wake, is set in Auckland and Paris at the time of the Rainbow Warrior bombing, and a film adaptation of the book is in advanced development.
