Cordelia Frances Biddle is a feminist and historian. Fiction: Listen to Me: The Women of the Bible Speak Out, a radical re-envisioning of ancient texts; They Believed They Were Safe, a dark tale set in picture-perfect 1962 New England. Her Martha Beale novels take place in 1840's Philadelphia. Martha Beale makes a fine guide to an often dangerous city. Cordelia's first novel, Beneath the Wind, explores the lethal side of colonialism in 1903. The River Was Waiting (second novel in the Gorne Trilogy) - pub date January 2026 Nonfiction: Biddle, Jackson, and a Nation in Turmoil: The Infamous Bank War traces the bitter feud between financier, Nicholas Biddle and President Andrew Jackson. It was shortlisted for the 2022 Athenaeum of Philadelphia Literary Award. Also nonfiction: Saint Katharine: The Life of Katharine Drexel follows the miraculous work of Katharine Drexel.
