In 2004 I had 2 choices, go to treatment or go to prison. Of course I chose treatment. That was almost 17 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday. I gave up so many times in my head, but my spirit wouldn't let me lay down. I had to keep going, after all I had 3 beautiful kids depending on me. Now they are grown, and I am much older, hopefully wiser. Through the past 17 years I was able to achieve my Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services and my Master’s Degree in business administration. While this may not seem like an extraordinary feat to some, it means the world to me and to others who are just like me. My genuine intention is to help other people realize just how amazing they are. I became a motivational speaker after I had been asked to share my story at the Rotary Club many years ago. I felt so alive at the thought of motivating others to keep going when they want to give up. Sometimes, all we need is a little inspiration from someone with similarities to our own story. It’s not the success that attracts us, it’s the struggle.
