Dr. Alfred S. Titus, Jr. is a retired veteran of the New York City Police Department. He served over twenty-three years with NYPD and retired after serving 13+ years with the distinguished Homicide Squad and as a active-member of NYPD's prestigious and world renowned Hostage Negotiation Team. Detective Titus' knowledge, skills, and expertise gained department recognition which led to the highest level within the Detective rank: Detective First Grade. While an NYPD Detective, Detective Titus gained New York State Certification as a Police Topics Instructor through the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services – Municipal Police Training Council. Detective Titus also earned his Master's degree through NYPD scholarship, lectured in NYPD's Citizen Police Academy on Homicide Investigations, lectured as an Associate Professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and earned his Doctoral degree. Dr. Titus' experiences are gained through growing up in the tough neighborhood of Jamaica, Queens, New York and working in law enforcement in the rough streets of Manhattan, from Harlem and Washington Heights to the Lower East Side. These experiences give him the credentials to share his experiences with the today's youth and anyone seeking to avoid barriers and obstacles on their way to success. As a retiree and Doctoral graduate, Dr. Titus, now teaches specific skills, theory, and procedure through undergraduate education at the world-recognized John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Dr. Titus teaches future law enforcement and legal professional courses that include: Introduction to the American Criminal Justice System, Criminal Justice Theory, Senior Capstone Intensive, and Research Methods and Statistics. Dr. Titus believes that effective education comes from a collaboration of practical and theoretical knowledge.
