Ed Daube, Ph.D. is a psychologist and bestselling author. While he is now The Emotions Doctor, growing up he was The Emotions Avoider because, in his family of origin, emotions were rarely expressed openly. While he learned to clinically deal with the emotions of others, he was “forced” to explore his own emotions while “auditing” a drug treatment group during his training as a Psychology Intern. During his career as a clinical psychologist with the California Department of Corrections-Juvenile Division, he developed the Emotions as Tools Model in order to effectively address issues related to emotions as a therapist with adolescent females (all with multiple abuse histories) and as a trainer with emotionally jaded correctional staff. After retiring, he realized that there was a great deal of misinformation about emotions in the self-help literature and wrote his books to add a fresh look to the subject. His blog TheEmotionsDoctor.com is a valuable source of articles covering many different aspects of mastering emotions as tools and he addresses the topic of emotions including anger as a regular guest on a variety of podcasts. You can download, without opt-in, the first two chapters of both of his books by cutting and pasting TheEmotionsDoctor.com into your browser and clicking on the links in the Welcome post. You can also access an index to all his posts by clicking on the Index tab in the upper right hand corner of the website homepage.
