The author is a retired professor of mathematics from San Jose State University, formerly referred to as the poet in the Math Department. She began her writing career by completing "Brad Pitt Won't Leave Me Alone, by her late son, Shannon Hamann, an award-winning poet. Mom was thrilled her submission of his dark poetry collection, "Deathdoubledactyl" won Pavement Saw's Transcontinental Poetry Award. Her first novel, "Inhabited," combines her hometown setting with her favorite beach-read author making it Garrison Keillor meets Stephen King. Her short works have been published in a number of anthologies. She completed a trilogy titled “Ocean Worlds” in January 2025 including “Lower World,” Lost Sea,” and “Not Alone on Earth.” It is difficult to label her genre. She describes her work as realistic fantasy or science fiction, literary with characters you love to love or love to hate.
