Dr. Estrellita H. Redmon was born in Tallahassee, Florida, as the oldest child of Edward and Margie Howard. She is married to Gregory S. Redmon, Esq. and they have two children, Victor and Carissa. She is an established author and has written a second edition of Victors Over Leukemia and most recently, The Heart Always Knows. With an incredible spirit of vision and determination, at the age of twelve, Estrellita announced to her parents that she wanted to be a doctor. In pursuit of this dream, at the age of sixteen, she enrolled as a freshman at Florida A&M University (in Tallahassee) and graduated four years later with a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, followed by a doctor of medicine degree from the University of Florida (in Gainesville, Florida) in 1986. She completed her residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of Virginia affiliated hospitals in Roanoke, Virginia (now Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine), and later returned to the University of Florida for a master’s degree in business administration. Dr. Redmon is board certified in Internal Medicine and Health Care Quality Management and is a fellow in the American College of Physicians. Her career in medicine includes over twenty-five years as a practicing physician and over twenty years as a physician leader in management. Dr. Redmon (also known as “Dr. E”) is the Chief Clinical Officer for Ascension Florida & Gulf Coast, where she is involved in improving the coordination and quality of care across the care continuum, improving patient safety and implementing value-based models of care. Prior to this role, she was medical director at Capital Health Plan in Tallahassee. In addition to contributing her time to medical missions within the United States, Dr. Redmon also enjoys traveling with her husband, spending time with her adult children and grandchildren, reading, writing, and playing the piano.
