One of my favorite things to do is to walk into a library. The smell of books and the quiet hush of anticipated adventure is thrilling. I believe a book should be uplifting, and make you want to be a better person; to inspire you to help others on their way in this life. I've learned from books how to build a house, plumb it, and run electrical lines to a breaker box. I've learned to build a fire without a match and hit a bullseye at sixty meters with an arrow. I've flown through outer space and hung out at the bottom of the ocean. Books have inspired me to learn all I can and do all I'm able during the short time I have on this earth. I enjoy family, faith, and friends. I love the great outdoors, riding my horse (Sky), and reading books under a tree or in a hammock. I learned to fish when I was five and could chop wood by the age of twelve. My passion in high school was gymnastics and in college it was archery. I spent over a month in the deserts of Utah learning to survive on the land and to fend for myself. This experience shaped the rest of my life in learning who I am and what I can accomplish. I married my sweetheart and brought five wonderful children into this world. I read to them in the car on long drives and told stories of my childhood growing up in a large family, adding made-up, wild adventures in between. When my grandchildren came, I told stories to them as well as taught them archery and outdoor skills. Secrets of Hollins Castle is my first published novel and is the result of one grandson asking for more stories when he was small, and when he turned fourteen, encouraged me to use his favorite to write a novel. I have eighteen biological grandchildren and seven acquired – making a total of twenty-five grandchildren who mean the world to me. Book Two is almost completed and I hope to publish it in the coming weeks. Keep reading! It's good for you!
