Jamie L.H. Goodall, PhD, is a historian with the U.S. Army Center of Military History in Washington, D.C. She has a PhD in History from The Ohio State University with specializations in Atlantic World, Early American, and Military histories. She is also a first-generation college student. Her publications include “Tippling Houses, Rum Shops, & Taverns: How Alcohol Fueled Informal Commercial Networks and Knowledge Exchange in the West Indies” in the Journal of Maritime History (2016); Pirates of the Chesapeake Bay: From the Colonial Era to the Oyster Wars (The History Press, 2020); Pirates: Shipwrecks, Conquests, and Their Lasting Legacies (National Geographic, 2021); and Pirates & Privateers from Long Island Sound to Delaware Bay (The History Press, 2022). She also writes on academic mentorship, the experiences of first-gen students, and pedagogy. Goodall's expertise has also been requested to support productions like World of Flavor with Big Moe Cason (Episode 4: Bahamas Barbecue).
