Jennifer Baumgardner is the former editor of the Women's Review of Books and owner of Dottir Press, which makes books by feminists, for everyone. She is author of six widely course-adopted books about contemporary feminism (including MANIFESTA and LOOK BOTH WAYS: BISEXUAL POLITICS) and writes for dozens of magazines and journals. She produced the documentaries IT WAS RAPE and I HAD AN ABORTION and was a producer of the plays SLUT and NOW THAT WE'RE MEN. Previously, she was director of the Feminist Press (2013-17), an editor at MS. MAGAZINE, and a Fellow at the New School. Baumgardner is a Jezebel 25, was activist in residence at University of Cincinnati, Dartmouth, and UNC-Charlotte, and was named The Commonwealth Club of California’s “Visionary for the 21st Century” for “permanently chang[ing] the way people think about feminism…and shap[ing] the next 100 years of politics and culture.” Originally from Fargo, North Dakota, she lives in New York City with her husband, two sons, and two cats.
