Although Joseph Blodgett claims to be from Western Montana, he was actually raised in Kennewick, Washington. His first story, written in the fourth grade about a lizard and his friends, went unfinished. However, that story sparked a love of writing that has continued to this day. Blodgett won his first writing contest, through Young Authors, in the 5th grade. He wrote for and edited his high school newspaper, and won second place as a college freshman for a patriotic short story he wrote for the competition. His Sophomore year he was assigned as lead on the judges' panel. He had several flash fiction stories published online over the years, and his first published novel is now available through Amazon Kindle, Print, and Audible, and has been getting excellent reviews. Blodgett attended Ricks College, now BYU-Idaho, receiving degrees in English and Social Studies. He went on to receive a bachelor's degree in English Education at Eastern Washington University and a Masters in ELL at Western Governor's University. Blodgett taught writing to 7th and 8th grade students in Arizona for several years, where he also met his wife and soul mate. From there, he moved to the Navajo/Hopi Indian reservations at Tuba City, Arizona, where he was asked to renovate the high school ESL program. Later, he moved on to supervise English, ESL, and online instruction at the Nizhoni Accelerated Academy on the reservation. He has taught college prep classes for Dine College and through the BYU-Idaho Pathway program and currently works as an ESL teacher in Memphis, Tennessee. He has five children, who are very much like him in many ways.
