Julia Keller is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, novelist, and playwright. Her most recent book, "Quitting: A Life Strategy" shows how a hard stop and a sharp pivot make all the difference. She's also written an eight-volume mystery series, beginning with "A Killing in the Hills"; a speculative fiction series about a future world where emotions are harvested and used as weapons ("The Dark Intercept"); a novel for young adults about a girl whose father suffers a traumatic brain injury in the Iraq war ("Back Home"); and a biography of Richard Jordan Gatling, the self-taught inventor who created the Gatling Gun -- and changed the world ("Mr. Gatling's Terrible Marvel"). Julia was born and raised in Huntington, West Virginia. She was a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University, and she's taught at Princeton University, the University of Chicago, and the University of Notre Dame. She was chief book critic at The Chicago Tribune for many years. Her favorite writers include Willa Cather; John Banville; Mary Oliver; Ray Bradbury; and Robert MacFarlane.
