Kelechi Ubozoh is a Nigerian American singer, writer, and mental health advocate. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Kelechi holds a BA in journalism from Purchase College and was the first undergraduate ever published in the New York Times. Kelechi was featured in The S Word, a documentary following the lives of suicide attempt survivors in an effort to end the stigma and silence around suicide, which won a Voice Award from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). In 2018, Kelechi appeared on CBS This Morning with Gayle King, and ABC Channel 7 News to support a national conversation about suicide prevention. Her story of recovery was featured in the January 2019 edition of O, The Oprah Magazine and on the Good Morning America website. When she isn’t working in mental health advocacy, she runs a Bay Area quarterly, submission-based reading series called MoonDrop Productions and performs at literary readings across the Bay Area. Her work was published in Endangered Species, Enduring Values: An Anthology of San Francisco Area Writers and Artists of Color, from Pease Press. Her book with L.D.
