Kristen Palana is an American/Portuguese artist, educator, and author. Her work has been exhibited internationally in film festivals, galleries, and museums and has won a number of awards. She's currently creating digital media for The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Malawi. Since 2000 Kristen has taught students in North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia. She recently taught at American University of Myanmar and Thalun International School in Yangon, Myanmar and is a former Associate Professor of Digital Media (2006-2016) at The American University of Rome where she co-founded and directed its Film & Digital Media Program. Since 2014 Kristen also teaches over 50K online students in over 175 countries. She specializes in turning complex information into something simple, memorable, and easy-to-understand as quickly as possible. Kristen lives in Malawi with her German husband, two Roman sons, and two Myanmar cats. She also makes ridiculous cartoons that journal her family's life overseas called "Out There. Doodles From Abroad."
