Dr. Linda Seger has been exploring the integration of spirituality and creativity since college. She continued this exploration during her time at Northwestern University, where she received her M.A. in Drama, and then went to seminary at Pacific School of Religion (M.A. in Religion and the Arts) and Graduate Theological Union (Th.D. in Drama and Theology) for further study. She later received an M.A. in Feminist Theology, which expanded her understanding of art in society. Linda is the author of thirty books, including several which have multiple editions. She is the most prolific author in the area of screenwriting and also has seven books related to spirituality and theology. She created and defined the script consulting profession in 1981 based on her doctoral dissertation project. She has consulted on over 2,500 scripts from 6 continents. Linda was the consultant for Peter Jackson’s breakthrough film, Brain Dead, and for Roland Emmerich’s breakthrough film, Universal Soldier. Other clients include William Kelley, Linda Lavin, production companies, film studios, producers, directors, and writers including Ray Bradbury who said, “Linda’s technique is a light to see by.” She was a theater director and educator in drama from 1965–1980 and directed twenty-five plays during that period. She returned to piano in 2017 and has specialized in two-piano duos and quartets. She and her two-piano duet partner received First Place in the International Duo Piano Competition in March of 2021. Since 1988, Linda has taught and lectured in over 30 countries on 6 continents. She presented the first professional Screenwriting Seminar in Moscow and Bulgaria and her master class in script consulting in Germany, New Zealand, Scandinavia, Austria, and Italy. Linda has received multiple awards for her work. Linda received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Redemptive Film Festival for her 30+ years of work as a script consultant. She is a recipient of the Candlelight Award from Regent University for being a “Light to the Entertainment Industry,” the Distinguished Alumni Award from Pacific School of Religion, the Moondance Film Festival Living Legacy Award for her support of Women in the Film Industry, and the Benezet Award from her alma mater, Colorado College, for innovation in her field. Linda has also received multiple book awards, including Illumination Book Awards, which shine a light on exemplary Christian books as well as awards for Christian Inspirational, Christian Living, Spirituality, and Meditation/Prayer. Linda grew up Lutheran and did several years of spiritual seeking in her 20s. She became a born-again Christian in college, has meditated with the Zen Buddhists in Los Angeles, and has preached at UCC churches, a Mennonite church, and a Unitarian church. She has been a speaker at the Ba’hai church and was a frequent attender of the Malibu Synagogue. She has a spiritual director who is a Benedictine nun. She has been a Quaker (Society of Friends) since 1970, worked for four years in a United Church of Christ in California, and is a member of the Church of the Wildwood (UCC) in Green Mountain Falls, Colorado.
