A Spanish teacher for over thirty years, Madelene Etter is motivated by a desire to make learning Spanish easier and more fun. She arrived from Cuba at age seven knowing one word of English, hello. In the sink or swim environment of third grade in an American classroom, she learned English in a year and was the family interpreter for her grandparents. That experience gave her insight into how you feel when you don't understand a language. She wanted to empower beginning Spanish students by creating materials that were easy to use. She believes that by learning simple stories you can acquire a language without an over-emphasis on verbs and grammar. Start with a small core of stuff you understand and keep adding to that core a little more each day. Before long, you'll be speaking and understanding Spanish.
