Mary Margaret Doherty is from an Irish Gypsy family and has lived in Manchester in the North of England for over 52 years, 33 of them, married to a good man; and is blessed with a wonderful, bright, kind and funny daughter. In 1995 Mary spent 3 months travelling all over the USA by Greyhound bus, got married in Las Vegas (her favourite place in the World), and has relatives in California and North Carolina. 'Having worked in social housing for many years with people who suffer depravation on a daily basis; I am reminded constantly of how fortunate I am to be part of something that tries to bring about positive change for those less fortunate than others'. Mary has written two children's fantasy adventure stories, but has yet to find the time to polish these rough diamonds, and let them out to play. 'There has never been a time in my whole life, even during the most tragic periods, when my family and I failed to see the funny side of a situation , laughter has always been our salvation and our friend'. Mary's favourite books (in no particular order) are: The BFG, David Copperfield and The Stand.
