I am a mother of four, grandmother of twelve, and happily married wife of 50 years. My life is good. My days are busy. Along with writing, I have the pleasure of lecturing on Civil War Arkansas and teaching professional development seminars. I'm thrilled with my latest venture of writing for children, and I'm happy to say, it has been a successful one. Sarah Campbell, Tale of a Civil War Orphan is the 2016 DeBlack Award winner for best Arkansas history book for children. The award is presented by the Arkansas Historical Association. And this book also received the five star Readers Favorite Award presented by Amazon. Children's novels, Sarah Campbell Tale of a Civil War Orphan, and William's Story are both generating great feedback. The Award-winning Civil War titles written for adult readers are: Book One...Where the Road Begins Book Two...A Difference of Opinion Book Three...A Long Way to Go Book Four...An Enduring Union These four books are based on my documentary history book titled Tattered Glory. This book is filled with source documents, a must read for the serious Civil War buff. The Arkansas Library Association named my Tattered Glory series the 2011 winner of the Arkansiana Fiction Award. My reconstruction era novel is titled A Reasonable Doubt. Here is a review from Senator Tim Hutchinson: "A Reasonable Doubt masterfully succeeds as a piece of historical fiction. Nancy Dane's depiction of post-Civil War Arkansas provides an insightful examination into the origin of past southern resentment for the Republican party - a resentment so profound that it could persist despite other generational transformations. Nancy Dane delivers the genesis of this southern resentment in this very entertaining and provocative novel. She catches the spirit and character of the Arkansas hill people which endures to this day. Dane's use of authentic, Arkansas hill-country prose and her sturdy character development makes A Reasonable Doubt a must-read for any fan of historical fiction." Recently I did an interview on Talk America radio. If you'd like to listen, go to my web nancydane.com and click the News tab. Also the Arkansas Newspaper Association has featured three of my novels in the Newspapers in Education program. Condensed versions of the books appear as serials in newspapers around the country. And I am very delighted all of the books are being used as curriculum in schools and colleges. I do appreciate hearing back from my readers so stay in touch!
