Paulina is a Canadian Professional Engineer with international experience in the security, transportation, and energy sectors. She obtained her initial M. Eng. degree in Coastal Marine Engineering in 1967 from the National Marine University in Odessa, Ukraine (in Ukrainian Odesa), and her second degree from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 1976. Paulina started her engineering career as a port designer for Soviet, Cuban, and later in the 70s for private and governmental Canadian companies across Canada. After her certification as a Canadian Professional Engineer, she jump-started her work in the Canadian energy, transportation, and security sectors. She participated in developing Canadian Onshore Pipeline Regulations and Canadian Diving Regulations, combining her career with the responsibilities of a full-time single-working mother of two. Paulina's memoir "The Sea is Only Knee Deep" in two volumes about her dangerous escape to freedom with her two small children, was written by Paulina and her husband Paul Weinzweig after her return visits to Ukraine and Cuba in 1997 and 2011. It was initially self-published in 2013. Since then she has written and self-published three more books: "Odessaphile", "Adios Angelina", and "Dog Days in Cuba".
