Peter Turner was born in Liverpool on the 21st of February 1952 and was the youngest of the nine children from his parents, Bella and Joe. In 1968 he auditioned to be an actor with The National Youth Theatre and was a member of the company for four seasons while still at school and drama school in London. He's acted in films, theatre, and television ever since. His memoir Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool about his relationship with the American film star Gloria Grahame was first published in 1986 and was re-issued in 2016 by Pan Macmillan and also in 2017 by Picador USA to coincide with the making and release of the film of the same name which was directed by Paul McGuigan and stars Annette Bening, Jamie Bell, and Julie Walters. Peter has written extensively for British television, has written two screenplays, and is now building up a collection of short stories and is also working on his first novel.
