Piers Dudgeon is the author of more than thirty works of non-fiction and the publisher of books by Giovanni Guareschi (including all the Don Camillo stories), John Fowles, Peter Ackroyd, Ted Hughes, Angus Stewart, Edward de Bono, Catherine Cookson, Daphne du Maurier, Anthony Huxley, Shirley Conran and many others under the Pilot Productions imprint. Among his own books are biographies of J M Barrie, Sir John Tavener, Charles Dickens, Edward de Bono, the du Maurier family, Catherine Cookson, Maeve Binchy and Barbara Taylor Bradford; a series of oral histories of Glasgow, Liverpool and London's East End; and a number of books evocative of the spirit of place, including The Country Child: Intimations of Immortality, Village Voices: A Portrait of Change in England’s Green & Pleasant Land, 1915-1990, The English Vicarage Garden, and The Spirit of Britain: A Guide to its Literary Landscapes.
