Rachel Nuwer is a freelance science journalist who regularly contributes to the New York Times, National Geographic, Scientific American and more. Her award-winning first book, "Poached: Inside the Dark World of Wildlife Trafficking" (Da Capo 2018), took her to a dozen countries to investigate the multi-billion dollar illegal wildlife trade. Her second book, "I Feel Love: MDMA and the Quest for Connection in a Fractured World" (Bloomsbury 2023), delves into the science, history, politics and culture surrounding MDMA. Rachel earned a master’s degree in applied ecology from the University of East Anglia a master’s degree in science journalism from SHERP at New York University. She lives in Brooklyn with a computer programmer and a bossy rabbit.
