Ramón David León (1890-1980) was born in Cumaná, Sucre state; writer of the lyrics of the State Anthem in 1915. Self-taught journalist, deserving of the oldest recognition for journalism Maria Moors Cabot Award founded in 1938, Gold Medal, Columbia University, which he received in Washington, D.C. USA in 1951. He was Ambassador of Venezuela in Lima, Peru; and in Havana, Cuba until 1959. He wrote several books and poems, among which are: De Agropecuario a Petrolero; The man from Macarigua, Where do we get to; Men and events of Venezuela; Eternal Cumaná; Theater without spectators, Venezuelan Gastronomic Geography, Winter Sun, El Brujo de La Mulera among others. The series of biographies or articles that make up the culinary geography of Ramón David León constituted a valuable testimonial inventory of the Venezuelan regional yantares and were complemented in 1972 with the recipes published by INDULAC (Nestlé de Venezuela), prepared by the specialist in Lolita cuisine. Llamozas de Lleras, who was in charge of the television program “Programa de Economía Doméstica Venezolana” -produced by Nestlé-, which allowed many of these vernacular preparations to be easily put into practice.
