I studied Journalism at the Columbia Journalism School and during these years I met my future husband. I worked successfully for “El Diario Nueva York”, the oldest Spanish language Daily. Everything looked picture perfect. But soon my dream came to an end: my husband slowly became abusive and domineering. His psychological and at times physical violence, his narcissistic tricks and mind games seemed to go on forever. Then came his affairs, lies, and deceit. I felt trapped and desperate: I went through almost 15 years of pain and despair. Finally, I left him. It was painful, but I knew it was right. For a while, I felt alone, wounded and broken. My newspaper asked me to write an article on Mexican drug trafficking and sent me to Mexico City where I met many women that had to cope with violence and abuse from their spouse or family. It was a light - bulb moment. I knew I had found my calling. I started studying Psychology and Psychotherapy to deepen my knowledge of mental mechanisms and mind patterns. I earned two degrees and an NLP certification in order to be fully prepared and qualified to help. I was going to help all the people who had to defend themselves from their narcissist and violent partners or relatives. I was going to give them the tools that would enable them not only to survive, but to thrive and be happy, to send a message of hope and resilience, and that there is never a reason to give up. It has now become the purpose of my life and it is truly my mission: to help people to find their strength and refuse to be abused. To stand up on their feet and start a new life. I lead workshops and seminars both in the U.S.A. and in Mexico. For any help or advice contact me at recoverfromabuse@sally-munoz.com
