Dr. Salvador Vidal-Ortiz is associate professor of sociology at American University in Washington, DC. He received his PhD from the Graduate School and University Center of the City University of New York in 2005. Aside from peer reviewed publications and edited and co-authored books, he is working on a manuscript on U.S. Santería practice and interlocking forms of lived experience. He also writes for popular venues such as Conditionally Accepted (Inside Higher Ed), Feminist Reflections, and 80 grados.
