Sten Oedman is the author of Battle For My Brain: F Your Doctor’s Stats!, a book that grew from more than two decades of living with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), brain cancer, and the radical uncertainty that came with it.

His work explores what happens when statistics describe a population but cannot determine an individual future. Drawing on lived experience, he writes about patient agency, resilience, quality of life, questioning assumptions, building the right team, and becoming an active participant in one’s own future.

Oedman’s perspective is also shaped by a career in international finance, economics, strategy, and risk. He has led banking and investment operations across Europe, the Middle East, and the United States, building institutions and working with governments and global firms in environments where decisions must often be made under uncertainty.

Battle For My Brain brings those worlds together. It presents six principles developed through his experience: Acceptance, Visualization, Building Teams, Understanding the Body, Food as Therapy, and Never Giving Up.

His writing and narrated essays continue the same inquiry: how people can question statistics without ignoring them, confront uncertainty without surrendering to it, and retain agency when the future cannot be predicted.
