Thomas O'Malley was raised in Ireland and England, and emigrated to the U.S. from Ireland at the age of sixteen. He is the author of We Were Kings and Serpents in the Cold (Mulholland, Little, Brown & Co.), both co-authored with Douglas Graham Purdy, This Magnificent Desolation (Bloomsbury), and In the Province of Saints (Little, Brown & Co.). He earned his B.A. at UMass Boston, his M.F.A. at the Iowa Writers' Workshop, and has been a Returning Writing Fellow at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Mass, and the recipient of the Grace Paley endowed Fellowship. He lives in the Boston area and is Director of Creative Writing at Dartmouth College. He has recently completed a dystopian novel, The Inspector from Cumbria, and is working on the third noir in "The Boston Saga."
